I'm going to put a link at the end of this post that I want you to watch. (Its only 5 sec long). However there are a few conditions or rules.
#1. First watch the video and write down what sound you hear.
#2. Play the video again but this time with NO sound and write down what you think he is saying
#3. Play the video again WITH sound but DON"T LOOK at the video. keep you eyes closed and write down what you hear.
Have fun and send me comments on your findings or what you thought of the experiment.

Me thinks you are addicted to youtube and you stay up too late. ;-p
ReplyDeleteOkay I tried your experiment but I had to close my eyes each time because he was so annoying. La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la . . . . Oh wait, that was eyes closed, sound off, so I guess that's just the background noise in my head. Oops.
ReplyDeleteI was so confused, I couldn't understand what he was saying at all until the 3rd time and then I think he was saying da, da, da
ReplyDeleteWhen i watched and listened he was saying Ga ga. then with no sound he was saying La la. and with my eyes closed he was saying ba ba, i swear. that is crazy!
ReplyDeleteso what's the trick?
It's odd. what they do is record him saying something but then the sound is taken out and they put in a different sound. However your brain is so wired to the movement of the lips that you hear what you see.
ReplyDeleteohhhhhhh, that's tricksy. very interesting professor johnson!
